Banys Vells Pral Review

Just returned home from the most fantastic of breaks to Barcelona. Got really lucky, the weather hit 28 degrees at the end of September. The roof terrace at the top of the apartment was the perfect place to lap up the sun. 6 of us stayed here and we loved it. SMEG fridge in the kitchen, beautiful original beams, leather sofa, Sky TV, Wi-Fi and spacious bedrooms with balconies and french windows. Who could ask for more? Right downtown in the El Borne. Try tapas at Taller de tapas (one minute walk), go to the cava bar in C/ Moncada, walk to the Picasso museum in 5, have cocktails, dinner in the 1000’s of restaurants with outdoor terraces that are within in walking distance. Check out Rubi for a large glass of wine or walk down to the beach at Villa Olympica through the park for chill out terraces with huge sofas. Brilliant time had by all of. Claire and George you could not have been more helpful.

4 of us stayed here, tons of space, lovely huge sofa, massive kitchen, quiet bedrooms. Everything we needed was here. We were able to plan day trips using the Wi-Fi and when we got home put on cbeebies for a bit of down town! Situated a minute walk from Jaume I, top location. Kids loved the chocolate museum, science museum, park, zoo, beach all within walking distance. Great service by Claire and George, good price, no complaints. Thanks so much.

This is the most central apartment we have ever stayed in. It is right in the city centre and we only have to walk out the door and into the bustle of Barcelona. Right next to Santa Caterina Market, a foodie’s heaven, with fresh fish, fresh meat and a wonderful restaurant inside. Walkable to everywhere, no taxis, buses, metros needed. Easy booking with Claire, wonderful check in service by George. We have had a truly wonderful time and will be back next year.

El Born area seems to be the trendiest part of the city and we certainly enjoyed the wonderful cocktail bars, tapas, restaurants and clothes shops. There is plenty of culture to be had as well the Picasso museum and the Textile Museum which has a great little café with a terrace attached to it there is also right around the corner a beautiful cathedral which you can wander around in and look around. Dali apartment is located right, slap, bang in the middle of all this and the location couldn’t be better. The apartment itself is nice inside, decorated well, very, very clean and had everything we needed. Claire was quick to point out on reservation that the 2nd bedroom was internal and lacked light but we found we slept well there. All in all a great little apartment, not grand but certainly not shabby, great price, wonderful check in service and absolutely no complaints. Thanks a million.

In August 2009 some friends and I rented the Picasso apartment for a short break in Barcelona. Upon arrival we made our way to Jaume I metro station and were met by Claire the owner in a cafe within 20 minutes of calling her. She took us the 5 -minute walk to the apartment pointing out some nice bars and restaurants on the way. When we got to the place Claire gave us some tips on going out in Barcelona and showed us how to use all the facilities in the apartment. The apartment was fantastic and very spacious for four people. All the rooms were very clean and furnishings very modern. There is one large bedroom with two single beds and a large living room with the widest sofa bed I’ve ever seen. The apartment has English Sky television so we didn’t miss X Factor on the Saturday night and a decent kitchen with a fridge freezer and a dining table. The apartment does not have air conditioning and stayed quite hot all the time but there are large fans provided to keep the air moving. The location of the apartment in El Born is fantastic for boutique shopping in the day and bars and restaurants in the evening. The beach is a 30 -minute walk away but with pleasant enough sights on the way. The apartment was very safe with two locking front doors.

The description of this property does not do justice to this fantastically located apartment. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable, large and airy, well equipped and despite the interesting characters in the square was quite safe. Communication with Claire and George who gave us a run down on Barcelona and what to do and not to do was invaluable.
The central location allowed us to visit most of the sites on foot or by metro. Tourist bus is to be recommended and although not mentioned much the Palace du Musica was just breathtaking and should not be missed by anyone with an interest in architecture, social history or music. Gaudi is just the most brilliant and mad architect ever-leave enough time to visit at least one of his buildings.
Picasso museum was free on Sunday afternoon and worth a visit. Montserrat is easy to reach by train and was a great contrast to the bustle of the city with some breathtaking views.

I have recently spent 4 weeks in this apartment and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. It’s newly refurbished, light and airy with great size rooms, which can be difficult to find in this city!!! It is ideally located in the up and coming area of Raval, which is rich in quirky coffee retreats and eating holes. These are easy to find and great discoveries when you do find them. Two amazing traditional markets are located at either end of the street with some of the sweetest sun ripened fruit I have ever tasted and cheapest great quality fish and meat. However on a short holiday cooking is not everyone’s priority and this area is really centrally located with restaurants from every corner of the globe. You can reach the famous La Rambla by foot in 5 mins and 3 metro stations close by link you to the rest of the city and further up the coast to beautiful beaches.
As its on the 3rd floor it catches the morning and evening sun and the two balconies mean you can sit and enjoy some of the locally produced wine and watch the world go by below. I saw the only snow in the city for 25 years and the heating/ air con unit was greatly received.
I loved it here but needed to find a more permanent residence :)

Gaudi Review

Our Barcelona family vacation was a trip of a lifetime! Our stay in the Gaudi apartment helped make this so memorable. I was initially apprehensive coordinating all the arrangements online, but Claire was extremely helpful, responsive, attentive to our needs and timely in coordinating our stay. She couldn’t have suggested a better apartment in Barcelona.
Claire suggested this apartment after others we had inquired about had already been reserved. The photos on the website accurately reflected the apartment itself. What we discovered when we arrived was an extremely clean, new, bright, modern, secure European apartment perfectly sized for my husband and I and our 2 teenagers. The location of the Gaudi apartment was outstanding! We were just a short walk to La Rambla, the Bouqueria, museums, sites and transportation links. We felt safe walking through the surrounding neighborhood and frequented some of the smaller ethnic shops and markets near the apartment and found some great buys. We enjoyed opening the balcony doors during breakfast to drink in the Mediterranean sunshine.
We appreciated George’s orientation to the Gaudi apartment and to Barcelona, in general. His tips on the beaches were right on. Based on his recommendation, we spent a day at the beach in Garraf. A family orientated, breathtakingly beautiful beach, we loved our day there. We highly recommend the hotel restaurant on the rocks overlooking the Sea where we enjoyed a late afternoon lunch of paella and sangria. The beaches at Sitges were also fabulous and a must visit. Both Garraf and Sitges were an easy (and scenic!) 30 minute train ride from Barcelona.
We have already recommended this website and the property owner to our friends and family. We will definitely use these services in the future - our next vacation abroad can’t come soon enough!

Stayed at this property for four nights in May. It was very clean, well equipped and as described in the advert. Apartment is ideally located across the road from the Metro. Local bars, banks and supermarkets are nearby. Nearby Poble Nou Rambla has some lovely restaurants. Apartment owner/management have left good local information about attractions, transport, etc. Good Customer service from Claire and George. Thanks for that. Would recommend the property to friends.

We were in the sea at poble nou beach in October! It hit 28 degrees, the kids were in heaven, so too were we! The apartment is in a great location and is 5 minutes to Poble Nou beach, 10 minute to the metro that takes you down town to Jaume I without changing lines (10 mins on metro). Rambla Poble Nou will supply you with an abundance of restaurants and is 5 mins walk from the apartment. Inside all mod cons, sunny and light, air con (we needed it in October!) and comfy beds. EXCELLENT service from Claire and George. Thanks!

We have been to Barcelona many times and always stayed in the old city which is totally beautiful but can be noisy at night. This apartment was so quiet at night and we slept really well. The pictures do reflect the place but they don’t reflect the space you get inside.İFor 2 people this place is great. If you have booked a cheap flight and are on tight budget, this is the place to be.İThe price is perfect and once added to our cheap flights the 2 of us had change out of 500 euros between us! We really had all we needed for a weekend break, cooking facilities, dining area and Wi-Fi. The bathroom is small but we just showered and went all day. The location is good, we walked through the park, past Arc de Triomf and in to the back of the El Born. The beach is reachable in 10 minutes and dinner there at night looking at the ocean was a treat. Loads to do down at villa olympica beach, with many, many restaurants, bars and clubs. We will be back, the price is great, the outside of the building is not the norm, but neither are we!

Yes it’s true it is wonderful! Love it or hate it (we loved it!) it is an ugly frontage but once inside and into the original warehouse lift and up to the top floor, it is great! The apartment provides a big space and has all the facilities we needed. If you walk down C/ Marina (which is where the apartment is) and you find yourself with loads of bars, restaurants, clubs to choose from (10 mins walk). You can also walk into the city centre from the apartment and into the old quater, on a map it looks further than it is, but we walked daily into El Born/Gothico for sight seeing (Picasso museum, Gaudi builidings etc) and we even walked straight up to Sagrada familia. Nearby are many convenience stores on C/ Marina for water, eggs, coffee, wine, beer etc) and down C/ Marina many restaurants serving ‘menu del dia’ at about 10 euros for lunch (including wine!) Claire was right this feels like a million miles away from Las Ramblas where you pay at least 20 euros for a far inferior lunch. We really felt we were mixing with locals and not with tourists and our neighbours across the very distinct hallway (hallway looks exactly like a warehouse still!) were really nice and spoke English, they live in the block full time. There is a bit of traffic in out of the building with deliveries but during office hours, so didn’t bother us as we were out all day pounding the streets. This is superbly priced for what you get, has everything you need for a short stay and the manager Claire is really helpful. Book it! Don’t be put off by it’s appearance neither by the fact that it is not in the Ramblas, that you will come to realise is a good thing, when you don’t get ripped off and can sleep well at night! We will come again and at that price maybe twice!

We spent one week here, having a pool and private terrace was just great. The weather was amazing and we used both the swimming pool and the beach (which is a stone’s throw away). The apartment is totally new, modern, very clean and only 15 mins to the centre of Barcelona by metro (which is round the corner). Shopping centre has everything you need and you can walk there in 2 mins. We were able to access all the sights in about 20 mins door to door and to come home to a swimming pool, spacious, clean air con apartment was just amazing. Claire and George were wonderful and helpful and we will come back next summer!

Thanks for a great stay made even easier by the very accommodating Claire and George. See you soon! THANKS!
